ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An Anderson County woman is dead and authorities say her husband is to blame.

Noble Lee Barrett is jailed on murder charges. He's accused of beating his wife Beverly to death with an unidentified blunt instrument.

Beverly's relative and neighbors that say the couple had a short, but violent past.

Inside the home, authorities say they found Noble Barrett's wife, Beverly, unresponsive--with severe head trauma to her forehead.

Authorities say they're familiar with the Barrett's, they've answered several calls involving family violence.

This time, they say they were not sure of the exact nature of the call until they arrived.

Authorities won't release the 911 call because they say it's important evidence.

However, they did say Noble can be heard saying, "I just busted your [expletive] head wide open."

The couple was only married for a year. Neighbor William Herman says they were constantly fighting--and splitting up.

"It was a continuation thing, and I felt like it had to be him or her," said Williams, "he said Herman, 'I've got to leave. If I don't, I'll kill her.'"

Beverly's relative, Rosie Foreman, says she knew the couple had a violent relationship, but she never thought it would end like this.

"I was sad about the situation and what had happened because I felt like being a man, he didn't have to bust her in the skull--her head, you know. In regards to what, you know? It would have come out better than that," Foreman expressed.

According to the arrest affidavit, Noble gave authorities a few different stories as to what happened to his wife.

"He said that somebody had come in and beat Brenda with something in the head. I guess at first he wanted to play it off like an intruder had come in," says Foreman.

However, authorities say they believe Noble acted alone, and they say the 911 call will play out as important evidence if this case ends up going to trial.

Noble Barrett is being held on a $350,000 bond.

His wife's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
