UPDATE: Child dies, 4 others injured in house fire

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Wood county fire crews are investigating a fire that killed a 7-year-old girl late Tuesday night.

The call came in just after 11:00 pm, that a mobile home was on fire on County Road 4536, south of Winnsboro. When the Perryville Volunteer Fire Department arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.

Four people narrowly escaped the blaze but suffered burns to their hands, body and face. Three helicopters were called to transport them to the Parkland Hospital Burn Unit in Dallas. 

A 7-year-old child identified as Jazmine Henson died in the fire after repeated attempts by family members to save her. Her body was located in the living room of the home after the fire was contained.

Those transported to Dallas have been identified as:

  • Justin Hammond (father) - Fair condition
  • Linda Henson (mother) - Fair condition
  • Belinda Henson (grandmother) - Fair condition
  • 2-year-old son - Unknown Condition
While fighting the fire a Perryville fireman fell from a fire truck and was transported by ambulance for neck and back injuries.
