Dozens of guns, methamphetamine found in raid

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Authorities raided an East Texas home Tuesday where they found 47 firearms and 28 grams of meth.

Police also found five televisions and five thousand dollars in cash.

Officers raided 54-year-old Tina Ray Bayless and 61-year-old John Wendell Bayless' residence Tuesday morning after more than eight months of video and audio surveillance.

The arrest took place in the ten-thousand block of CR 3197 in Arp.

Sheriff Smith says there are witnesses, which will help make this a solid case.

"What makes this case unusual is the number of firearms they recovered from this residence," says Sheriff Smith.

Smith believes this couple may have been getting their meth out of Dallas and then distributing it in the East Texas area.

Authorities are checking to see if the guns were stolen, but they say it is probable that the guns were traded for meth.

"We found 28 grams of meth, which is not a lot, but it is obvious what they were doing," Sheriff Smith says.

"We find lots of televisions, lots of electronic equipment often times, but never this many guns," Sheriff Smith says.

The sheriff says they will be working with the ATF so they can trace the guns.
