LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas man is arrested early Thursday morning after getting into a shoot out.

Longview police arrested 19-year-old Pedro Perez and charged him with two counts of aggravated assault and evading arrest.

Authorities said Perez fired several shots around four o'clock on the 500 block of Ridgelea Avenue.

"It definitely wasn't a firecracker it was a shot and it was loud and very intense," said Wanda Writt, heard the shooting.

Wanda Writt said when she heard the noise she woke up too see what was going on.

"You thought it was right next door and I live up stairs and I got up to look through the window and I could see a body a vision in the street about 20 feet away," said Writt.

Writt said five minutes after the shooting there was a knock on her door, but instead opening it she called the police.

"Whoever was at my door was bleeding really bad see all the blood the blood goes all the way to the yard to the ramp because my mother has a hoveround and there was just blood everywhere," said Writt.

Officials said Perez left the scene in a vehicle leaving the two victims behind. One victim was shot in the hand and the other shot in the leg.

"It's not really clear, but all we know is that they apparently are known associates according to the reports I read apparently there was some sort of interaction  between them earlier in the evening," said Sgt. Rob Bowen, Longview Police Department.

Sgt. Rob Bowen says police found Perez shortly after the shoot out and stopped him, that's when Perez took off of foot.

"They ended up getting into a brief foot chase with him before he was apprehended," said Bowen.

Pedro Perez will be arraigned in a Gregg County Court Friday morning.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
