'Operation Appreciation' targets ETX soldiers overseas

GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - Christmas is right around the corner, and East Texans are making sure our troops overseas know we're thinking about them.

They say the best part about these boxes is that they will benefit troops who are all from East Texas.

It's a little box from home that can make all the difference when finally opened.

For the last eight years "Operation Appreciation" has sent hundreds of boxes to troops serving overseas-- but not just to any troops, troops who are specifically from East Texas.

Sending everything from socks, candy,  jerky and blankets, it's the way these East Texans say, "Thank you for your service."

Steve Faught, who is with the American Legion Post 281, says they plan to send boxes until the last soldier is home.

The American Legion Post 281 in Gladewater will be sending about 150 to 200 boxes by the first week in December.

They plan for the boxes to be there by Christmas.
