MINEOLA, TX (KLTV) - New agencies are now joining the search for a Wood County woman, Marquita Gutierrez, who has not been seen since she was heading to a doctor's appointment in Canton on October 14th.

She never made it to that appointment.

According to Wood County, the Texas Rangers have been called in to assist in the disappearance of 55-year-old Gutierrez.

Authorities are also looking for her husband, Gilbert Gutierrez, who is a person of interest in her disappearance.

Mr. Gutierrez was in contact with law enforcement officials, but he failed to show up at the designated time.

Police told us that they have checked the couple's home off County Road 2922 near Golden, but so far there has been no sign of either of them.

Family says Gilbert and Marquita Gutierrez have been married for about a year and he may have been the last person to speak with her.

Gutierrez has several identifying features; he has Native American designs on his forearms, and a tattoo on his forehead of the word "apache."

Authorities say that he is about 5'6" tall, weighs 265 pounds, has brown eyes and long black hair.

Gilbert likes to wear Native American-style clothing and jewelry, and he may be headed to Laredo.

Please contact the Wood County Sheriff's Department if you have any information about this case.
