At first, Bryan Lafleur just wanted to build an accordion for himself, but he says it soon became a "hobby gone crazy."
Lafleur has always liked Cajun music. After all, that's his heritage as native of Mamou, Louisiana. His first accordion was made from red heart cypress from his grandfather's barn. These days, his accordions are more likely to be made from walnut, curly maple or even more exotic woods
Although the accordions take three months to finish, Lafleur looks forward to the day he can retire as a Farmers Branch firefighter and make accordions full time. Even though Lafleur makes accordians, he insists he isn't a performer. What he likes best is creating his works of art for others to play.
