Proposed bill would ease concealed carry restrictions

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - If a proposed bill becomes a law, a concealed carry license would be treated much like a driver's license.

As the law stands right now, carrying a concealed handgun is much more restrictive when traveling outside of your state.

People who have a concealed carry license, can legally travel across 34 states with their weapon.

If the bill is signed into law, every state besides Illinois would permit concealed handguns from any state.

Lock & Load Store Manager Kenneth Lottman says, "Most of the people that came in here to get their concealed handgun license just avoid all of those states together. If they don't allow them to carry in that state, they'll choose to vacation in the states that honor it and stay out of the states that don't."

Lottman also thinks it might actually increase revenue in the states that currently don't honor other states concealed carry licenses.
