Police: Trio arrested after fires set in Walmart, TV stolen

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - Police in Concord have arrested three people after they say someone set a series of small fires inside a Concord-area Walmart and then stole a television.

Police say they arrested 42-year-old Jerry Hedrick, of Hardwood Lane in Concord, on Tuesday and charged him with several felony charges.

Officers say Hedrick set small fires inside the Supercenter Drive Walmart in Concord on October 29 at 9 a.m. and then ran out of the store with a television. Hedrick was charged with one count of felony burning building used for trade, and one count of felony larceny by removing antishoplifting device.

Police say Hedrick was also charged with one count of felony larceny from merchant by using emergency exit resulting from a second incident that occurred 8:00 a.m. October 30 at the same location.

Hedrick's wife, Penny, was also charged with accessory after the fact of a felony after police say she was identified as driver in two reported incidents.

Thirty-two-year-old Joseph David Lamb, of Kannapolis, has been charged with one count of felony larceny from merchant using emergency exit, resulting from an incident on October 30 at the Concord Commons Place Walmart location.

He also faces one count of accessory after the fact of a felony for his involvement as an accessory in the October 29 incident.

All three subjects were transported to Cabarrus County Jail.
