Woman's hands burned, pet dies in fiery crash

UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - One woman was transported by helicopter with burn injuries after her vehicle was t-boned by pick-up truck and caught on fire.

According to DPS, around 8:50 am, the woman was attempting to turn off of FM 3358 onto 300 Gilmer Road, when she was struck by a pick-up truck traveling northbound on Gilmer Rd.

Authorities say the woman's view was blocked by an 18-wheeler making a right turn from 300 Gilmer Rd. onto FM 3358. Her vehicle caught fire and both her hands were burned. The small dog she was traveling with died in the crash.

She was transported by an Air One helicopter to a Shreveport hospital with burns to her hands and other injuries. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.

The man driving the pick up truck was not injured.
