Tyler woman fires shot during overnight home invasion

From Tyler Police Department Press Release:

On November 13, 2011 at approximately 2:07 a.m. the Tyler Police Department received a telephone call regarding a burglary in progress at 2051 W. Cumberland Rd. (Cumberland Place Apartment Complex).  Within minutes officers were on scene, but the suspect had fled the area prior to their arrival.  The apartment complex and surrounding area was searched, but a suspect could not be located.  Officers contacted the victim, who stated she was asleep in her bedroom and awoke to find a man sitting on top of her.  According to the victim, she struggled with the suspect for several minutes before retrieving a gun and fired one round in the direction of the suspect.  It is believed the suspect was not injured during the incident; however, the victim did sustain minor injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene.  Unfortunately the victim was not able to provide a description of the suspect.
