East Texas Dog Goes Into The Hall Of Fame

An East Texas dog is going to be remembered forever in the Texas Animal Hall of Fame. The five year old labrador retriever named Jaycee is a therapy dog at Wellspring Recovery Center in Longview, a treatment center caring for those with HIV-AIDS and substance abuse problems. She received the honor tonight because of the comfort, care and love she provides.

Nursing supervisor Betsy Wright said, "Jaycee is our therapy dog and she is the first one to greet our client as they come in the door. She can recognize depression faster than any of us can and she lets hte counselors in on that."

Jaycee has some chores at the Wellspring Recovery Center. Those are to remain nonjudgmental and guard the front door.

Previous inductees into the Texas Animal Hall of Fame include 25 dogs, two cats, two horses and a pig.
