RUSK COUNTY, TX - Rusk County Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle is in a local hospital where he is recovery from a successful heart bypass surgery. He underwent surgery Monday, November 7, 2011. The surgery came after complications he had experienced and decided it would be in his best interest to get a check-up. A blockage was discovered by the cardiologist and they determined it needed repairing. His physicians said he had not had a heart attack and his heart is in excellent condition.

Sheriff Pirtle ask the physicians if this would affect him running for re-election or being capable of performing his job duties as sheriff and the doctor said absolutely not. They stated he should feel like he did 20 yrs ago. The procedure will keep him away from the office for approximately 4 weeks.

The day after the surgery, medical staff had him sitting up in a chair, and doing a little walking. Doctors say the surgery was successful and he is doing very well and expect a full recovery. He will remain in ICU until doctors determine he is ready to be moved to a private room.

Sheriff Pirtle stated prior to surgery, "This is an obstacle I will overcome and look forward to continue serving the citizens of Rusk County. Thank you for your prayers and support and God bless you all.

The Pirtle family would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.
