Wet roads to blame for multiple wrecks in E. Texas

Released by Tyler Police Department:

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Wet roadways are to blame for numerous accidents around the East Texas area.

Tyler Police, alone, responded to more than 26 wrecks by 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

One crash involved a Tyler Police vehicle that was protecting a scene of a one car accident in the 1400 block of South Glenwood.  The officer was out of the vehicle when it was struck from behind by a 2000 Nissan Pick-up, driven by a Latasha King, age 19 of Tyler.

King was traveling to fast for the wet street conditions and was unable to stop in time sliding into the rear of the patrol vehicle.  King was transported to ETMC with non- life threatening injuries.

DPS also reports working more 17 accidents between 5:00 am and 1:00 pm,  Tuesday. One of the wrecks involving a jack-knifed 18-wheeler that slowed traffic on the interstate for a short time.

Longview police responded to a one vehicle wreck with a Saab SUV that overturned on the wet pavement on Green Street. The driver in that wreck was not injured.

Motorists should always slow down on the wet roadways and always give plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you.
