Tornado watch in effect for most of E. Texas

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Tornado watch is in effect for All of East Texas except Hunt and Kaufman Counties until 6PM this evening.  Strong to severe thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening.  Some of these storms could produce gusty winds and maybe an isolated tornado or two.

This line of storms will move across East Texas during the late morning and early afternoon hours. The main threat with these storms will be strong gusty winds and small hail. There is a chance of an isolated tornado or two but right now the tornado threat does not appear that great across the area.

In addition to the severe threat, there is a chance a few areas could see some very heavy rain. Most of East Texas should receive between a half inch and one inch of rain with locally heavier amounts of up to two inches possible.

Behind the storms a cold front will usher in much cooler weather to East Texas. By Friday morning much of the area could be looking at freezing temperatures.

Stay with KLTV and for the latest.
