Trial of ETX man accused of shooting deputy moved to January

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The trial date for an East Texas man, accused of shooting a Smith County deputy has been moved to January.

Christopher Summerville is accused of shooting deputy Josh Caulkins during a raid back in March.

Deputy Caulkins was wearing a protective vest and was not seriously injured in that shooting. Summerville is charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.

He is also under indictment for a robbery charge unrelated to the shooting and for failing to register as a sex offender.

The trial is set to begin on January 11, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the 241st District Court.
