Witnesses disturbed by motorcycle hit and run

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police are looking for the driver, they say, hit a man on a motorcycle Thursday morning and then took off.

The hit and run happened just after nine at the intersection of Englewood and Gentry Parkway on Tyler's northside.

When KLTV arrived on the scene, 63-year-old "Jimmy" Lee was being taken away in the ambulance.

Witness Lori Townsend saw the whole ordeal unfold through the window at her office. She rushed out the door and couldn't believe her eyes.

"I just say him laying there and you know, you're just not used to seeing things like that," Townsend commented.

Townsend says people began to crowd around the scene trying to help. She says a nurse was by his side.

What bothers Townsend most is the driver of the SUV, "We didn't hear any screeching wheels or screeching tires, like trying to stop."

Tyler Police have been actively searching for the driver and the vehicle. At one point, they thought they might have caught a break at a Tyler laundromat. Unfortunately, it was a false alarm.

Now, the hunt is on.

Tyler Police say they are looking for a dark blue or possibly black Suburban or Yukon with damage on the front.
