Tyler men arrested for stealing diesel fuel

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler Police arrest two men for stealing diesel fuel from a construction company.

Tyler Police Department Detectives were conducting surveillance in the 3300 block of Walton Road, where numerous thefts of diesel fuel had occurred.  Detectives observed two men drive onto the property of Reynolds and Kay construction where they filled two large plastic barrels with diesel fuel. 

Detectives along with on duty Patrol Officers contacted the two suspects and took them into custody. The suspects, identified as Michael Mathis and Kermit Hall both of Tyler confessed to stealing approximately 6,168 gallons of diesel fuel over the past several weeks. 

The total amount of stolen fuel was valued at $21,834.72.  Mathis and Hall were both booked at the Smith County Jail on felony theft charges.
