HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KSLA) - A Harrison County judge hands down Thursday morning a sentence of 99 years to an East Texas man found guilty Wednesday afternoon of murder.

20-year-old Renrick Taylor will serve 99 years in prison with eligibility for parole in 30 years, for his role in the brutal murder of a woman back in 2009.

Wednesday evening, a jury deliberated for less than three hours and convicted Taylor for the murder of 30-year-old LaShun Jenkins.

Harrison County Sheriff's deputies say Taylor and another man, Jamel Cooper beat Jenkins, ran over her body multiple times with a vehicle and then dumped her body north of Waskom, Texas.

Initially Harrison County prosecutors were going to try Taylor for capital murder, which carries a sentence of life in prison or the death penalty, but instead tried Taylor for murder.

A trial date has not been set yet for Taylor's alleged accomplice.
