District 1 Senate Hopefuls Speak At Forum

Five of the candidates running for the District 1 Texas Senate seat showed up in Kilgore Monday night to pitch their ideas.

Daryl Ware, Jerry Yost, Paul Sadler, Tommy Merritt and Bill Godsey each took time to answers questions as to why they would be the District's best representative. A scheduling conflict kept the only other candidate, former Tyler Mayor Kevin Eltife, from attending the forum.

The District 1 seat comes open this year after Senator Bill Ratliff announced he's stepping down January 10th.

The forum was one of the first chances the hopefuls had to field questions submitted by the community.

Early voting has already begun in the race for Texas Senate District 1. You can vote Tuesday, January 6th through Friday, January 9th and again Monday, January 12th through Wednesday, January 14th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
