Capital murder trial for Harrison Co. man continues

HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KSLA) - The second day of testimony in the capital murder trial of Renrick Taylor was marked by information about DNA and blood sample comparisons. Taylor, along with another defendant, faces charges for the 2009 murder of LaShun Jenkins.

The DNA samples analyzed samples found in the back of Taylor's car and on clothing found in a burn pile behind the men's home.

Authorities say Taylor used his car to transport Jenkins' body after beating her. It was at an oil site north of Waskom, Texas where authorities say Taylor and his codefendant ran over the woman and dumped her in a mud pit.

Details of the crime were difficult for Jenkins' family in court for the testimony.

"It's just bringing back all those memories. I never got to view her when I lost her, but the evidence that I'm hearing today let's me know that it's for sure her. And it's just hard," said Shirley Jenkins, the victim's mother.

Taylor could face the death penalty if convicted of capital murder.
