Fans Excited Over Playoff Appearance

The Dallas Cowboys returned to the postseason this year for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. The boys fans have noticed.

"This year has been great, a big surprise," said lifelong Cowboys fan Gary Babbitt. "Nobody expected them to do anything like they've been doing this year.

Joe Everett is co-owner of "The Sportszone Bar & Grill" in Tyler. They opened just this week, and were expecting a big crowd.
"We opened up New Year's Eve and when they found out we were open that's the first thing they asked, 'Are you going to have the Cowboys game?'."

One local Cowboys fan knows that excitement firsthand. Vandy Jordan usually cheers for the Cowboys down on the sidelines as a Cowboys Cheerleader. She says the fans are definitely back.

"The fans they're really excited this year and everybody just always commented on such a difference from last year to this year."

House parties have become popular again too. A group of friends we spoke with in Tyler said they meet for every game. They say win or lose it's just great to have the boys back in the playoffs.

"I remember when they won those two Superbowls back to back," said Wade Mullins. "Man that was the most fabulous time, it was awesome. But tonight, tonight has been real exciting for everybody."

We visited both "The Sportszone Bar & Grill" and "The Down Under Pub & Grub" in Tyler. Both opened just recently. Owners say the Cowboys are one big reason they expect to succeed in this market. They just hope they'll keep up their winning ways next year.
