LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – The winners of the 3rd annual Art Bra contest now know who they are after an unveiling during Thursday's Power of Pink breast cancer awareness luncheon.

Organizers say it was a tough year for the judges as 29 art bras were entered in the competition.  Breast cancer survivors modeled the winning entries.

"Treasure your Chest" is the 3rd place winner, modeled by Tammie Ward of Colmesneil.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and is about to complete her treatment.  Her winning entry was created by the Imaging Department at Memorial Medical Center, San Augustine, which consists of Kasey Radican, Sandy Hopson, and Cheryl Davis.  The ladies remind all women to treasure their chest and get an annual mammogram.

The 2nd place winner is "Save the Hooters," modeled by Tracy Cook of Lufkin, who was diagnosed with breast cancer one year ago and just recently completed her treatment.  Her entry was created by Molina Courtney in honor of Patricia Flanigan and encourages women to see the importance of monthly self exams and annual mammograms.

The 1st place winner is "aBRAcadaBRA," modeled by breast cancer survivor Stacey Willmann of Lufkin.  The winning entry was created by Drs. Kay Carter and Jerry Johnson's nursing staff.  They would like to make breast cancer magically disappear one mammogram at a time.

A new voting element was added to The People's Choice Award for 2011.  For the first time you could cast a ballot for your favorite art bra online.  "We received a tremendous response with votes coming in from not only East Texas, but from throughout the United States.  In fact, almost 3,000 ballots were tallied from online voting," according to Yana Ogletree, Marketing Director.  The winner is Chastity Bullock in honor of her grandmother Mildred Bullock, a breast cancer survivor.  "Nesting for a Cure!" was modeled by Angela Botley of Lufkin who was diagnosed in July 2011 and recently completed her treatment.

All of the winning entries will be on display in the lobby at Memorial Health System.
