SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -Shreveport Police have made an arrest in the death of a Shreveport toddler whose body was found late Thursday in his mother's backyard shed.

The mother's boyfriend, 26-year-old Tristan Anderson is charged with First Degree Homicide in the death of two-year-old Ja'Marsay Summerfield.

Police say the investigation began in the late evening of Wednesday, October 19th, when 28-year-old Tamera Summerfield notified police and filed a missing persons report on her son. Summerfield told police she had left the child with Anderson October 7th, and believed Ja'marsay was in the joint custody of Anderson's mother and sister.
In the early evening of Thursday, October 20th, Shreveport Police Investigators went to a residence in the 8500 block of Panetella Lane, a house shared by both Tamera Summerfield and Anderson. During a welfare search around the residence, investigators discovered the toddler's body in a storeroom located off the carport area.
Further interviewing of witnesses lead investigators to believe the toddler was last seen in the custody of Anderson, who was subsequently arrested and booked into the city jail for one count of First Degree Homicide.
The investigator is continuing.
