The "Occupy Wall Street" movement continues to increase in popularity and there is even rumor of some activities here in east Texas but the movement is seriously flawed. First of all there are no true leaders, only a loose steering committee.
This alone will probably spell doom for the group. Next, "Occupy Wall Street" has no real agenda other than protesting the capitalist system and those that have taken advantage of it.
Participants call it greed and, no doubt, there is a full measure of that going around in many businesses but that is at least partly what drives our system. The group's message seems to center around economic inequalities but again we are not a socialist country. So the protests are full of energy and obviously people that are in need but if they really want to be change agents, voting on Election Day will be the way to do it.
We certainly have the right to assemble and the right be vocal against our government and the "Occupy Wall Street" movement even has some celebrity appeal as several millionaire celebrities including Kanye West have joined the protest. Which to me is ultimate in insult to this movement – Kanye West, really? So the protests will continue and their message will slowly evaporate along with their numbers, not because the group was wrong in their mission but because they truly had no plan to make their message stick.
