Family displaced after house fire rekindles

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A house fire rekindled Friday morning. Flames were first reported around 2 a.m. Friday in the 2300 block of Pinkerton Drive in Tyler.

Ciara Johnson says her mom hurried the family out of their smoke filled house.

"She went out into the living room and she was trying to get everybody out of the house, my mom and dad," she said.

She says an alarm sounded off as smoke swept through the home.

Fire crews were called to the Johnson's home twice Friday. The first time around 2 a.m. Six hours later, the fire rekindled.

Luckily, the family wasn't there for the second fire. Officials say the fire started in the dining room, possibly sparked by electrical appliances. The home now has major water damage and a caved in roof.

As Ciara looks on at her burned home, she says that can be replaced, their lives cannot.

"We was all asleep and my brother was yelling or my mama and she come out and the house was smoking and we tried our best to get out and we got out," she said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
