NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man is suspected of driving drunk after a two-car accident Wednesday night in Nacogdoches.

47-year-old Kenneth Holcomb was taken in to custody as a towing company pulled his red Ford F-150 from a tree.

A Texas DPS trooper said Holcomb was driving southbound on Highway 59, just south of Loop 224 in Nacogdoches, when he rear-ended another southbound driver around 9:15 p.m. The impact caused Rebecca Sessions' maroon Pontiac Grand Prix to flip, sending both vehicles across the northbound lanes of the highway. Holcomb's pickup apparently ran up an embankment and through a barbed-wire fence before landing in a short pine tree.

Trooper Jerrald Moore said alcohol is believed to have played a role in the wreck. Holcomb was charged with driving while intoxicated and booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.

According to the Nacogdoches County Jail, this is Holcomb's second DWI offense.

Sessions, of Nacogdoches, refused treatment from first responders at the scene. Law enforcement said she later went to a hospital to be checked for injuries.

Billy Ross Towing of Nacogdoches used a boom truck to latch on to Holcomb's and pulled it from the tree, about a mile south of the Loop.

Bond for Holcomb has not been set at this time.
