UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The trial for an Upshur County Judge has ended.
The trial for Upshur County Judge Dean Fowler began yesterday in Wood County.
Judge Fowler was facing a charge of official oppression, stemming from the Commissioner's Court's ban on public comments during meetings.
The judge in the case said there is not enough evidence to try judge Fowler on the charge of official oppression and made a Directive Verdict, ordering the jury to find him not guilty on the charge.
Judge Fowler stated, "Justice was done today and I just want to say that I am relieved to have this case behind me. I appreciate the judge's decision. And again, I have had innumerable supporters in Upshur County and I want to thank them and tell them I look forward to their continued support."
Fowler was facing another charge of abuse of official capacity but the visiting judge signed paperwork to quash that charge.
