Petition Puts Kink In Landowner's Hearing

Another type of land dispute in Upshur county.  A petition filed Monday may put a stop to a hearing that will decide whether or not thousands of east Texans can keep their land.

But a judge won't rule on whether the hearing will be permitted until 10 a.m. Wednesday, the same time the hearing is set to begin. The General Land office says landowners should go ahead and plan on attending the hearing as planned. It will start at 10 a.m. at the Gilmer Civic center.

Wednesday's hearing, if it goes on as scheduled, will determine if an 1800's Upshur county survey is valid.
