Students Learn Dangers of Electricity

A demonstration of just how dangerous electricity can be was put on by TXU's Oncor and meant to show some Birdwell Elementary students the "real-life" dangers when playing around power lines.
Safety officials say common items like kite strings and tree branches are used to show the students just how dangerous the power lines can be to them. Students who watched the presentation took away some valuable lesson's.
"I learned most never play with electricity it will always hurt you," said 3rd grader Shamada Landers.
The kids also got a visit from "Zigster", Oncor's safety mascot. Today's demonstrations were part of a new program. The company is hoping to visit more schools around the state in the future.
