The kids at Wise Elementary School in Chapel Hill got to take turns playing in the snow all day long. The "snow" was actually crushed ice from a Houston company called Ice Express. The PTO at Wise organized the snow day for fun and as an extension of what they're learning in class.
"We've been reading a book for the last two weeks on The Polar Express," Janet Alfaro, Wise PTO president, said. "It has ice, it has snow, and it has the train. It has hot cocoa, and this is just our polar party."
Ice Express pumped out about 30,000 lbs. of ice, which cost the school $3,000. The students participated in a fundraiser to help pay for their day of snow.
