GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - A marijuana growing operation has been shut down, and it was operating less than 1,000 feet from a school.
Gladewater Police arrested 52-year-old Tony Wilburn during a raid on his home on Rodeo Drive, within a thousand feet of Gladewater High School.
Dozens of bundles of marijuana, along with several plants and firearms were seized during the raid. Investigators say Wilburn's crop was ready for sale.
Gladewater Police Chief Farrell Alexander says Wilburn, "Was utilizing his back yard to dry out the marijuana and we found several plants that were hanging inside the house that were being dried out to be processed, most of the plants outside had been processed."
Tony Wilburn is charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.
