Family of 11 loses home in Woden-area fire

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A woman and her 10 children are homeless after a house fire Tuesday afternoon in the Woden area.

According to Nacogdoches Fire Marshal Dale Birdwell, the fire started in a mattress  around 12:45 p.m. and appears to be accidental. Nobody was hurt in the blaze.

A Woden High School freshman is leading an effort in gathering monetary and clothing donations for Cassandra Washington and her 10 children.

According to an email from Woden ISD Superintendent Brent Hawkins, the family lost everything in the mobile home fire on George Street, including three pets.

Clothing can be dropped off at the Woden Elementary assistant principal's office and money can be given to each of the campuses' secretaries.

The children ages range from 12 months to 15 years old. The sizes are: 12 month, 3-4T, 5T; 8 regulars (male); 10s (male and female; Youth Medium (Female); 32s (male); 34s (male); and 14 (female).
