All this week, Hubbard Middle School in Tyler has been helping out the firefighters' toy drive, benefiting The Salvation Army. In all, the students brought 250 toys. The school also collected more than 1200 canned goods for the Kiwanis Club. Students sold candy this week, raising $500 for needy families within their own school. One student says she's happy to give other kids a better Christmas.
"Some kids aren't going to have a Christmas at all, and I just think it brings a lot of smiles to a lot of people's faces to do something like this to make other kids happy," Adrienne Ewert, an 8th grader, said.
School administrators say every student who brought something to donate got to have a blue-jeans day today, which means they didn't have to wear their uniform.
