Two homes destroyed in Morris Co. fire

MORRIS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Fire destroyed two homes this morning in Morris county.

Both fires broke out in the 200 block of Senters Avenue in the community of Omaha.

One homeowner, Haley Gibson, said, "I remember waking up this morning thinking wow, it was a weird dream and then I realized I wasn't in my home, wasn't in my bed, and it wasn't a dream.  It was real."

The electrical fire started at her neighbor's house, and within minutes, it quickly spread next door.

She said a loud popping sound woke her family.

Gibson added, "My husband jumped out of bed, grabbed the gun, and thought somebody was trying to break into the house and he opened our bathroom door that leads into our kitchen and he just saw red flames and you could feel the heat from the neighbor's house.  He just yelled to get the kids and get out of the house now."

Nearly everything was destroyed, besides a few irreplaceable items like her children's baby pictures and a homemade cross.

Fortunately, the Gibsons do have homeowners insurance.  Tonight, they're staying with family.
