TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler ISD officials confirm that a teacher has been placed on leave following an incident that occurred off campus.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office placed Orquida Nunez-Miller, 33, under arrest for assault causing bodily injury, child abuse/neglect, and filing a false report.

On April 28, the Smith County Sheriff's Office was called to a disturbance that "got out of hand" at a residence on CR 384.

Authorities say Nunez-Miller's ex-boyfriend was returning their three-year-old son home after visitation, when Nunez-Miller spotted the new girlfriend in the car and confronted them.

Nunez-Miller allegedly crawled over a five-year-old in the car to get to the woman, leaving scratches on the child.

The ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend also sustained minor injuries, including hair loss.

Nunez-Miller, along with two other family members were arrested in connection with the case.

Her bond was set at $6,500. She has since been released.

A TISD spokesperson says Nunez-Miller was placed on leave effect September 23, but has not been on campus since September 16.

We're told Nunez-Miller taught second grade at Austin Elementary, and has been with the district since August 2009.
