Longview man killed in overnight shooting

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An 18-year-old suspect is in the Gregg County Jail charged with murder in the shooting death of a Longview man.

Just after 11:00 pm, Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a report of gunshots heard in the 1100 Block of Hutchings Boulevard. 

When Officers arrived they were told by witnesses that there was one person who had been shot inside the house. 

Officers identified the victim as 31-year old Orion Marcel Peoples of Longview.  Officers also located another victim, Christopher Carter 23, of Longview. 

Carter told Police that the suspect had allegedly pointed a gun at him and assaulted him inside the home at the time of the shooting.  Police were able to locate the suspect during a traffic stop near the intersection of Noel and Martin Luther King Boulevard. 

The suspect was identified as 18-year old Troy Carnell Saddler of Longview.  Saddler was arrested, transported to the Gregg County Jail, and charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  

His bond has been set at $115,000.

Officials say Carter has non-life threatening injuries.
