Former Presidential Chef Visits Tyler

Tonight at the Atria Briarcliff Retirement Home in Tyler, a black-tie dinner featuring a presidential menu.  Former White House executive chef for five first families, Henry Haller, signed copies of his cookbook and spoke to East Texans who attended the event. The Switzerland native cooked for Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan, spanning 22 years. He told us what the experience was like.

"To make the job maybe a little easier for them by serving them excellent food and serve it on time. They did not want to wait for the food. The food had to be ready because they were very busy people," said Haller.

Chef Haller also cooked for kings, queens, and other heads of state while at the White House. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Smith County and The Salvation Army in Tyler.
