GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Marijuana bricks and Xanax pills were thrown along interstate twenty during a late night chase.

According to Gregg County Sheriff's Department, a car chase ensued on I-20 in Gregg County shortly after 10:00 pm, Tuesday, after a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations.

The driver of the vehicle accelerated, evading arrest with speeds in excess of 120 mph.

During the chase, the driver and passenger in the vehicle threw bricks of marijuana and large amounts of Xanax pills out of the passenger window, littering miles of the interstate with the drugs and hitting the trooper's vehicle and a passing semi-truck with some of the bricks of marijuana.

The chase continued for about 12 miles before coming to an end when the suspect vehicle ran over spikes that were set up by troopers. After having their tires deflated the suspects pulled to the shoulder near the Eastman Road exit .

No one was hurt during the chase and the suspects, 28-year-old Sirwelton Hobbs of Alexandria, Louisiana and 30-year-old, Kevin Anthony Gills of Fort Riley, Kansas were apprehended by authorities and booked into the Gregg County Jail.

Because of the high amount of traffic volume on the interstate and the fact that it was nighttime, only a small percentage of pills and marijuana could be recovered.
