ETX constable arresting 18 for meth dealing

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County constable has begun serving warrants for 18 people in the county in connection to dealing meth.

Constable Pct. 4 Jason Bridges said his office has obtained 36 warrants for the 18 people, following a year-long undercover operation to identify dealers of the drug in the county.

Bridges said the investigation began in the Kingtown community after his office received several complaints about crime in the county. Five of the 18 are from that community with nine charges pending.

The operation began there and branched out all over the county, Bridges said.

"During that time our office has been able to identify what we believe are several high-value methamphetamine dealers that have been distributing methamphetamine at a large volume," Bridges said. "Our aim was to identify the biggest methamphetamine suppliers in Nacogdoches County, and these names continued to come up after each investigation we conducted."

Bridges said the arrests should play a role in reducing the amount of meth and other drugs being sold on the streets.

Bridges' office is being assisted by the Pct. 1 Constable's Office and the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office.
