Semi-Annual Children's Consignment Sale

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - With kids back in school, the expenses never seem to end. School supplies, uniforms, lunch money. It all starts to add up pretty quickly.

That's why two stay at home moms decided to get together and create one massive consignment sale offering a variety of items from clothes to furniture all available for a fraction of their retail price.

"We started with 100 families about 10 years ago and now we have about 1000 families participating from all over East Texas."

Charla Allen has looked forward to this sale for months.

"Oh my gosh, I've been waiting for it since April and before when I was pregnant," said Charla.

She found the perfect outfit for her 9-month old daughter, Madison. And she plans on coming back today for more serious shopping, but this time without the baby.

When the event ends, everything that has not been sold is donated to the Salvation Army or Living Alternatives.

"There are several ministry organizations that have even gotten involved. There are a couple of doctor's wives that come through and buy our shoes and take them with them when they go to Africa. So there are shoes from East Texas all the way in Africa and I love that", says Tess.

Tess says the event is put on primarily by volunteers who have the perk of shopping before the doors open to the public.

"It's so fun to see the friendships that form from working together and volunteering together"
