DALLAS, TX (KLTV) - The owner of a Lindale business, who was the focus of a drug and gun investigation, has died.

Smith County officials confirm that Troy Glen Shelton was found dead in a Dallas hotel room of an apparent suicide by hanging.

Forty-five-year-old Shelton was arrested in August on drug and gun charges after his home was raided by several East Texas law enforcement agencies.

Investigators say they found more than 30 pounds of marijuana, 15 pot plants, 100 guns and $6,000 in cash.

During the raid Shelton complained of chest pains and was transported to a local hospital where he underwent heart surgery.

Shelton was booked into the Smith County jail 13 days after the raid; he was released nine days later.

Officials say that Shelton was wanted for a warrant out of Hopkins County.
