DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Authorities arrested a man on battery charges Saturday after part of his roommate's ear was bitten off Thursday night.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, the victim identified Miguel Garcia, 27, of Denham Springs as the ear biter.

Garcia was eventually booked on one count of second-degree battery.

Detectives said when they showed up at the address where he and victim lived they found about 14 Hispanic men living there.

The men told investigators Garcia had just jumped out of the bathroom window and ran away.

A police dog was sent into a wooded area to track him down.

K-9 Apache caught one man and another surrendered to deputies.

However, it was later learned neither man was Garcia.

Authorities said the men told them they ran because they were in the US illegally.

Leandro Macdonado, 20, was treated at the hospital for a minor dog bit injury and released. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a resisting arrest charge.

Mario Duran, 19, was also charged with resisting arrest.

Deputies reported the arrests to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) so the immigrant status of all three men can be determined.
