Busiest Shopping Day Of The Year

It is the day known as Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the busiest shopping day of the year. It's when stores are overcrowded and holiday shoppers will stop at nothing to get the gifts on their list.

They lined up by the hundreds as early as 3 o'clock this morning around various Longview businesses, all wanting to be the first in to get that first deal.

"Just seeing and meeting different people and just racing for the sales," said customer Wynette Cooper. The Longview mall on a normal weekend sees 15,000 to 20,000 visitors, today they estimate they'll see nearly 50,000.

"You gotta watch out for the kids, and mothers grabbing sale items so it is a definite adventure to come to the mall on a Friday after Thanksgiving," said shopper David Samples. In the stores, people were jostling for position trying to get deals before they were gone. For many, the experience has become a family tradition.

"Its probably as much tradition for families, they're together Thanksgiving and the next day they hit it early, we've had folks here as early as 5:00 this morning" said mall marketing director Julie Wert.

Pushing, shoving, and snatching merchandise from others to get that perfect gift at a bargain price. There's still 27 shopping days left.
