A Sneak Peek Inside El Chico Ranch

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - We're three days away from the opening of a controversial Tyler restaurant. This is the eatery that was once an El Chico and almost a Double D Ranch.

The restaurant had to make changes to be in compliance with a judge's order-- in order to open. Those modifications have been made, and Friday only, KLTV got a look inside.

El Chico Ranch manager Bingo Breshears said he and his staff have waited a long time to serve Tylerites, and they're excited that day is almost here.

"We want everybody in Tyler to come and see what we're all about. Our mission here at El Chico Ranch is to be the favorite restaurant of everybody in Tyler, and that is from the managers down to every single employee," Breshears said.

But, before serving up burgers and beer the restaurant had to make some changes ordered by the court.

"We did make some modifications to the uniform and name and feel like we're in compliance and excited to move forward," Breshears said.

Aside from modifying wait staff uniforms, El Chico Ranch also had to remove any signs or logos that indicated that this was almost a Double D Ranch. That is why the horseshoe logo that used to be on the building is now blacked out.

Specially invited patrons poured in during the lunch hour. Then, they dished on what they thought of the new restaurant concept.

"You know it was a good place... you know for a girls night or a guys night. Bring the family. It was great, good environment and the girls were so sweet," Hallie & Ryan Kee said.

And while every restaurant has its critics -- "I'm a big guy. I don't need the biggest portions but they by far have the smallest," Jemahl Martinson said. --their efforts were still applauded, "the owner did what they had to do to make it happen and that's what America is all about, you make it happen" he said.

And it is happening, as El Chico Ranch, at least for now.

The parent company of El Chico Ranch said they will pursue their legal rights to operate as Double D Ranch in court this November.
