TISD Examines Textbook Options

Six publishers pitched their material to a committee Monday night, one of those companies was "CEV Multi- media". They are offering a curriculum using videos, CD roms and online content to teach students. The company's CEO says it's the wave of the future. Marian Rainwater, TISD's Director of Curriculum and Instruction, says no matter what they choose, they'll keep the students' interests in mind.
"We'll obviously have to take a look at, if we choose a technology system, are we able to support that system, are we providing something that all our students will have access to, something that is sound in it's presentation of biology concepts."
The state would pay for the multi -media resources, but the district would have to provide the technology to support it. The school board will decide on the issue in February.
