Dense smoke advisory for parts of E. Texas

Released by The National Weather Service:

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for parts of the East Texas area.

The Advisory is in effect until 4:00 pm this afternoon for Kaufman, Van Zandt, Henderson, Anderson and Leon Counties.

The large fires burning across East Texas have resulted in a thick smoke plume with is moving westward into North Texas. Given the light winds, this smoke plume is not likely to disperse quickly.

Visibilities will be reduced to a quarter of a mile in many locations in the direct path of this smoke plume. In addition, air quality will be degraded across the region.

Motorists should slow down, use low beam headlights and leave plenty of space between you car and the vehicle in front of you in case of a sudden stop is needed.
