Fire north of Gilmer takes 3 structures, threatening school

UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - KLTV has just learned about a major fire near the Bettie Community, just north of Gilmer.

The Upshur County Fire Department says the fire, which is burning north of the Union Hill School, has already taken three structures.

Crews are working to keep it from nearing the school.

Evacuations are currently underway at FM 2454.

We have a crew en route and will post more information as it becomes available.
