UPDATE 3:24 9/5/11: Officials say the fire is now 40-50 % contained, but has claimed about 1300 acres. The Texas Forest Services says they're making progress in fighting the blaze, and are moving available resources to fight the fire in Diana.

UPDATE: Officials tell us that residents in the area are being evacuated to the Gladewater airport.

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Gladewater Police tell KLTV 7 evacuations are underway because of a fast-moving fire.

The evacuations are ongoing one mile south on Highway 135 off of US Highway 271.

We're told evacuations are also being ordered along Rose Wady Road and Joy Wright Mountain Road in Smith County.
