Daycare moves forward after ex-employee indicted

MINEOLA, TX (KLTV) - A Mineola daycare worker has been indicted on charges of injury to a child.

Jennifer Stone turned herself in at the Mineola Police Department Wednesday night. Stone is accused of mistreating a five-year-old child in June.

The daycare's owner says she's focusing on moving forward.

Owner Tammy Senn she's only watched surveillance video of an incident in question once.

"I couldn't stomach to even watch it again," she said.

Jennifer Stone, the woman reportedly in the video, was fired immediately after the allegations and video surfaced. Senn says she had trusted Jennifer.

"I mentored her for almost four years so it was very hard to watch," she said.

Since then, Senn says she's hired a new staff to help her move forward. She says she and her teachers have attended several training sessions focused on how to properly discipline children. In her 33 years in the business, she says this experience has been the most heartbreaking.

"I think it's probably been the hardest thing I've ever dealt with in my life because you know as a business owner and having the passion and the love for children that I have you would think never in my center will anything like this ever happen so it's like your worst nightmare," said Senn.

She says there's no excuse for her former employee's behavior in question.

"I hope and believe that she is sorry, but that still doesn't change it from what happened and took place," said Senn.

Now, it's all about moving forward, putting this dark spot behind them.

Stone was released from jail this morning after posting a $10,000 bond. She's expected in court next month.
